In today's market, a successful health care facility provides an effective blend of advanced technology and a friendly, people-oriented environment.

Promoting the Healing Process
Realizing the patient's basic anxiety regarding illness and medical treatment, Terry Shrum works to design warm, human-oriented health care facilities.  A comforting health care environment reduces patient stress and promotes the healing process.  And Terry’s in-depth understanding of medical systems and operational processes allows him to effectively combine this comforting environment with the technical and functional demands of a modern health care facility.

Master Plans to Small Additions
Being involved in health care design since 1985, Terry has kept abreast of the many changes which have occurred in the health care industry. . . from evolving medical techniques to changing state codes and regulations.  Terry’s experience covers all areas of master planning new facilities, designing additions or remodels for departments such as surgery, radiology or intensive care units and non-medical departments including administrative, food service and gift shops.

Close Communications

By working closely with the client and their staff, direct lines of communication help to achieve the preliminary building concept.  Terry thoroughly addresses departmental functions, specialized equipment, building elements and systems and required building materials.  Interior design services may also be provided by Terry.  His knowledge of the psychological effect of colors and finishes allows him to provide the warm, friendly environment so important to the patient's wellbeing.  Terry is also skilled in designing integrated graphic signs for directing traffic through the facility.

Cost Savings
With many years of experience in designing health care facilities, Terry understands the need to design within realistic budget parameters.  These considerations extend beyond current construction costs to include the operational and life-cycle costs of the completed building.  Terry, as a design professional, also has excellent working relationships with state and local agencies, facilitating proper adherence to current health code regulations.  With his extensive knowledge of health care requirements, he can develop concise Construction Documents that save time and money, leaving fewer areas for question and fewer time delays during construction.

Team Approach
Through close communication between Terry and the client and their staff, a team approach to facility design is formed.  By understanding the project’s special needs, Terry can work to achieve an efficient, effective health care facility.
